Custom Silk Scarves With a Logo: How It Works

Where the mark goes, what to send, what it costs

A logo goes onto a silk scarf the same way the rest of the design does. We print it into the artwork in Como, edge to edge, and then roll the hem by hand. This guide is for a company, a team, an event or a partner edition that wants its mark on silk. Minimums start at 30 pieces depending on the size, prices run from $35 to $155 a piece, and every piece is a printed silk scarf made for gifting, not a knit promotional scarf. Below is how the logo goes on, where it can sit, what file we need, and what custom silk scarves with a logo cost and take.

How a logo goes onto silk

The logo is part of the same file as everything else on the scarf, so it prints in one pass with the rest of the design. There is no patch, no embroidery and no stitched mark. The color sits in the silk itself, which means the mark can be any size the design calls for and any color the file carries, and the back of the scarf shows a softer version of the same design rather than thread ends. Once the print is set, each scarf is cut and its edges are rolled and sewn by hand.

If you have seen logos on knit team scarves or on fleece, this is a different object. Those marks are woven or embroidered in bulk. A printed silk scarf is closer to a piece of fine stationery, and that is why the artwork matters as much as it does here.

Four places a logo can sit

The first is the one most companies mean. A small mark in one corner of the border, in one color, about the size of a signature. The scarf reads as a scarf and the logo is found rather than announced. It is where our own mark sits on the Erich Biehle design below.

The second is lettering or a wordmark running along the border, the way a couple’s names run along the edge of a wedding scarf. It suits a name that is also a word, an anniversary year, or a short line the brand actually says out loud.

The third is the emblem at the center with a pattern around it. Our VOW for Girls scarf is arranged this way, the charity’s red wordmark printed at the heart of a garden of flowers and butterflies inside a pale blue border. We make it as a charity edition and half of its price is donated to VOW for Girls.

The fourth is to leave the logo out altogether and let the brand colors, or a small repeat of the mark, become the pattern itself. It is the quietest version and often the one people keep wearing years later.

For events, the artwork is usually the event’s own, an illustration or a collage, with a monogram or a date in the corners. The scarf below carries a couple’s watercolor with their initials in each corner, tied onto a guest’s handbag at the dinner. A conference or a gala works exactly the same way.

What to send

A print-ready PDF or PSD at the finished size of the scarf, at 300 dpi, with the logo kept as a vector so its edges stay crisp at any size. Brand colors go in as Pantone references or CMYK values, and anything that must stay fully visible sits at least 1.5 centimeters in from the edge, because the hand-rolled hem takes the outer band of the design into the seam.

We check every file before it prints and make small production adjustments where needed. We do not create original artwork from scratch, so the design around your mark, whether that is a pattern or an illustration for your event, should arrive finished. If it still needs to be made, the studio we recommend is Ceci New York. Our guide to preparing a print-ready file covers the rest, canvas sizes in pixels, vectors, color and the hem margin.

Sizes, minimums and prices

Pricing depends on the size and the silk. Every price includes the print, the hand-rolled edges and free worldwide shipping, and customs and duties are covered for deliveries within the EU and the United States. Organic silk twill is the classic scarf weight and prints crisply, which is why most logo scarves are made in it. The full grid by fabric is on our custom silk scarves page, and our guide to what a custom silk scarf costs walks through real order totals.

SizeStandard minimumOrganic silk twillAcross our silks
33 × 33 cm, pocket square50 pieces$35twill only
55 × 55 cm, neckerchief50 pieces$60$40 to $60
70 × 70 cm, classic scarf50 pieces$70$50 to $89
70 × 90 cm, stole40 pieces$80$60 to $80
90 × 90 cm, large square40 pieces$90$65 to $90
140 × 140 cm, shawl30 pieces$135$80 to $155

The minimum exists because each run starts with color mixed for your artwork, the press calibrated for it and the silk prepared and tested before the first piece prints. Two designs or two sizes can often share one run when they use the same silk, so a scarf and a matching pocket square, or two colorways of the mark, do not each need their own minimum. Send us the mix you have in mind and we will confirm what is feasible.

A sample if you want one, then about six weeks

If you would like to see the result before the full run, we make a single finished scarf from your file. It is $550 for any size and silk, takes about four weeks including shipping, and the full amount is credited to the production order. Once your order is confirmed and paid, the run itself takes about six weeks including delivery. Production pauses each August.

For gifts that need to arrive before the holidays, count back from your date. An order confirmed and paid by the third week of November still arrives before Christmas. Add about four weeks if you want a sample in hand first, which means starting in mid-October.

Packaging that carries the logo too

Each scarf can arrive in a custom printed envelope made in your color with your logo on the front ($6), in an envelope with ribbon ($7.50), or in a handmade box with silk paper ($11.45). The custom scarf envelope is the one that takes the logo, and it is what most corporate orders choose, because the mark is seen twice, once on the envelope and once on the silk.

Who orders scarves with a logo

Client and corporate gifts most of all, a scarf for clients or a team at the end of the year. Galas and conferences, where the scarf goes into the welcome bag or onto every chair. A Berlin events house had us print a summit collage for a hundred attendees and mailed one to each of them after the event. Partner and charity editions, like the VOW for Girls scarf, where the logo is the reason the scarf exists. If you are planning a large trade or corporate order, our planners page has the details for that.

Common questions

Can you print our logo on a silk scarf? Yes. Send it inside a print-ready file at the finished scarf size and it prints as part of the design, in the same pass as everything else, after which the scarf is hand-rolled in Como.

Do you embroider logos? No. Every mark we make is printed into the silk. Nothing is stitched or applied on top, so the reverse of the scarf is clean and the logo can be any size or color the file carries.

What file do you need for the logo? A print-ready PDF or PSD at the finished size of the scarf, 300 dpi, with the logo kept as a vector and brand colors given as Pantone or CMYK references. Keep anything essential at least 1.5 centimeters from the edge for the hand-rolled hem.

Can you match our brand colors? Yes. Send your color reference or Pantone and we match it on silk, then confirm it on the finished sample before the full run. Silk prints differently from paper, so the sample is where the color is settled.

What is the minimum for a logo scarf? Fifty pieces for the 33, 55 and 70 centimeter squares, forty for the 70 by 90 and 90 by 90 sizes, and thirty for the 140 by 140 wrap. Two designs or sizes can often share one run when they use the same silk.

Can the packaging carry our logo too? Yes. The custom printed envelope is made in your color with your logo for $6 per scarf. An envelope with ribbon ($7.50) and a handmade box with silk paper ($11.45) are also available.
