Our Story
I am Patrick Biehle, son of famous Swiss textile designer Erich Biehle. For most of my childhood, my father worked between Paris, New York, Zurich and Como, designing fabrics for the biggest names in fashion, including Cristobal Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent and Hubert de Givenchy. In particular, he designed the patterns for Givenchy's entire scarf collections over several years and developed a close friendship with him. I recall playing in Givenchy's Paris atelier as a little boy and didn’t think much of it, except that he pushed me to learn French and gave me giant perfume bottles. I also spent a lot of time with my father at the production facility of the world-renowned Antonio Ratti in Como Italy, where I started to develop a deep respect for the complex and sophisticated processes that go into the production of silk fabrics.
Years later, while studying in the US, I met a tall, blond Danish girl named Sofie. After nine years of dating, I finally got down on my knees and proposed. We decided on Lake Como as the location for a wedding with family and friends from around the world. For this once-in-a-life celebration, we wanted to do something unique and truly memorable for ourselves and for our guests. The wedding invitation itself struck us as being of crucial importance, because it would be the first hint at what they could expect and would set the tone for what was to come. To do that justice, we came up with the idea of creating an invitation that would also be a memorable gift that our guests could use as an accessory during the wedding and that they would want to keep forever.
The silk scarf invitation was born. Naturally, the scarf was designed by my father and produced by Ratti in Como.
As an offspring of our own wedding, By Biehle was born. Our silk scarf invitations are created with love and respect for fashion heritage, uncompromising quality and a passion to help other couples make the biggest event in their life truly unforgettable from the day the wedding invitation arrives.
